About the event
A 2026-2027 Ron Lykins Concert Series Event
Experience two Russian masterworks filled with drama, color, and unforgettable melodies.
Tchaikovsky transforms Shakespeare’s timeless tragedy into music in his Romeo and Juliet Fantasy-Overture, capturing the conflict between two families and the soaring love theme at the heart of the story.
Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition turns an art gallery into sound. Written in memory of artist Viktor Hartmann, each movement portrays a different artwork, connected by the recurring “Promenade” theme. Maurice Ravel’s brilliant 1922 orchestration builds toward the triumphant finale, “The Great Gate of Kyiv.”
The performance will be accompanied by choreographed visuals from artist Adrian Wyard, pairing Mussorgsky’s musical scenes with striking imagery created for live orchestral performance.
