A 2026-2027 Ron Lykins Concert Series Event
Experience an evening of drama, dance, color, and imagination as the Westerville Symphony brings three vivid orchestral works to life.
Tchaikovsky transforms Shakespeare’s timeless tragedy into music in his Romeo and Juliet Fantasy-Overture, capturing the bitter conflict between two families and the soaring love theme at the heart of the story.
The energy continues with selections from Aram Khachaturian’s colorful ballet Gayane, including the exhilarating Sabre Dance, Dance of the Rose Maidens, and Lezginka. Filled with driving rhythms, brilliant orchestral color, and the spirit of dance, these selections showcase Khachaturian at his most vibrant.
The concert culminates with Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, a musical journey through an art gallery inspired by the work of artist Viktor Hartmann. Each movement portrays a different artwork, connected by the recurring “Promenade” theme. Maurice Ravel’s brilliant 1922 orchestration brings these musical pictures to life in dazzling…
